Thanks for the quick reply! I tried that as well (although I think I had tried
it before, for the option was in my xorg.conf, but commented out). The effect
was the same: a blue-ish full screen picture, and a dead X server. The
backtrace in Xorg.0.log seems to be identical to the one I already attached to
this report.
