A user in the archlinux forum has brought to my attention that it could be the
ARGB visuals and Xrender modules used by KDE4 and its window manager, so for
the time being I ve set to it to use raster and turned off ARGB visuals with
these exported commands:

KDE_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1
QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=raster

The above concern the artifacts generated.
