This thread seems to indicate the cause of stopping interrupts is the dodgy
BIOS and ACPI stuff:  http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/linux/kernel/981060

I'm currently investigating with Fedora 9 & Fedora 10 since *may* be where the
problem was introduced.
