Summary: Poor xterm/exa perf with ColorTiling on.
Product: xorg
Version: git
Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Driver/Radeon
AssignedTo: xorg-driver-ati at lists.x.org
ReportedBy: lists at andyfurniss.entadsl.com
QAContact: xorg-team at lists.x.org
rv790 with d-r-t, git xorg and ddx.
With 1d tiling enabled, drawing xterm text is noticably slower than without it.
Coloured text seems to be worse than black, but black is affected also.
Some numbers, xterm maximised on 1920x1080 monitor.
time dmesg (930 lines) 0.25 sec without tiling 1.1 with.
time ls /usr/share/man/* which is 10k lines of mainly coloured text
0.4s without 4.1s with.
This issue does not seem to affect seamonkey browser which is fast with or
without tiling.
Testing various ddx commits shows that this started with the pflip merge but
turning off pageflipping does not fix it.
SwapbuffersWait is off.
