No matter the kernel side, the X side of the Radeon driver always says "VRAM
usage limit set to 219499K"; wouldn't that indicate that the X server doesn't
attempt to use memory beyond that anyway?
So my options right now pretty much boil down to hack blitting out of any new
kernel that comes along, add the VRAM limit patch, and hope for the best.
