           Summary: System lock when rendering certain web pages
           Product: xorg
           Version: 7.5
          Platform: x86 (IA32)
        OS/Version: Linux (All)
            Status: NEW
          Severity: major
          Priority: medium
         Component: Driver/Radeon
        AssignedTo: xorg-driver-ati at lists.x.org
        ReportedBy: lisaev at indiana.edu
         QAContact: xorg-team at lists.x.org

After opening some web pages in firefox, the GPU will completely lockup,
followed by the system freeze, while the screen shows artifacts (in my case it
is slowly turning white). Here are the details:

* uname -a
Linux bluemoon 2.6.35-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Sep 29 07:17:20 UTC 2010 i686
Mobile AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3000+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
* lspci -v | grep VGA
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon XPRESS 200M 5955
(PCIE) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
* firefox 3.6.11; xf86-video-ati 6.13.2

This happens, if I try to browse, for instance, to
http://www.ph.utexas.edu/~macdgrp/ (works in links).
