Currently I using different driver on different hw (nouveau with GF6200). But 
I also use X server from git,  usually master and now - 1.9 branch with one
commit reverted (workaround for broken mouse handling in some games).  In
different X server versions "EXAOptimizeMigration" was on or off by default
(may be some distributions turn it on, too ?), i think in my case it is off.

Also, i'm on  AGP box, so speed difference can be bigger in my case (compared
to PCI-E guys).
