You need the kernel source.  You need to apply the patch and rebuild the drm
module if you use the source to your current kernel, or the whole kernel if you
use a vanilla or git kernel tree.  The patch is not likely to be upstreamed. 
It's just a test patch; if it helps, I'll code up a proper fix.
