On the latest git master of xf86-video-ati, the console viewport stops short on
the maximum resolution (1600x1200) shows only 48 lines. The resolution seems to
be correct, but the whole available area is not used.

Upon starting gnome the desktop wallpaper is also repeated twice (overlaying
one another), once for about 2/3 of its size in the top left corner and the
second time in full size. That might be related.

I also have an S-video output automatically enabled during startup that has a
significantly smaller maximum resolution (1024x768).
