Dear Dan,

The Wikipedia page[1] identifies your FireGL V3400 as an R520 core.  The
Radeon Xorg wiki page[2] indicates you should expect support from the
open source driver--at least in recent snapshots.  The recent code
supports xrandr which deals with multiple displays.
