Summary: X does not start, sometimes machine freezes
Product: xorg
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Driver/Radeon
AssignedTo: xorg-driver-ati at lists.x.org
ReportedBy: jensmh at gmx.de
QAContact: xorg-team at lists.x.org
Created an attachment (id=26287)

Xorg.0.log
Distribution: Kubuntu 9.10 alpha with updates as of 29/05/09.
Monitor: Dell 3008WFP
Card: FirePro V3750 (however lspci identifies it as FirePro V5700, pci id
1002:949f)
Cable: DisplayPort
When booting the machine, after starting X the screen becomes and stays black,
however the machine is still usable over ssh. Switching to a console with Alt-F
does not work.
It occured to me that after restarting X, the machine freezes. This is
reproducible.
I tried both DisplayPort connectors of the graphics card, the behaviour is the
same.
I'm wondering if there is a problem with the monitor, as usually in Xorg.log
the EDID is printed, in mine however not.
