Summary: MIssing textures in some games - Driver radeon
           Product: xorg
           Version: 7.4
          Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
        OS/Version: Linux (All)
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Driver/Radeon
        AssignedTo: xorg-driver-ati at lists.x.org
        ReportedBy: alvadoraemon at yahoo.es
         QAContact: xorg-team at lists.x.org

I have tried the latest (X)Ubuntu Linux (9.04) in my system, and some 3D games
are unplayable with the free radeon driver. Some important failures:

- Sauerbraten: screen corrupted from the start, dissapeared menus, totally
unplayable. I was forced to kill it from CLI.

- Neverball : while Neverputt works (it uses the same engine - ???? -),
neverball shows deformed polygons with wrong colors. Unplayable.

In other games some textures dissapear, and polygons show a plain color instead
of a texture. Others work well, like 2D games and some 3D games like Stormbahn
Coreur. Videos also work perfectly, and XFCE run smoothly, even with compositor
enabled (no glitches, only the "classic" GTK "effects" - screen redrawing -
:-)).

I don't know if this is the actual status of the driver or there are some bugs
behind this failures. Now, my system specs:

- AMD64 X2 5000+
- 4 gigs of RAM
- AMD760 chipset Gigabyte board).
- ATI x1650 (RV530) PCI-E.
- OS Xubuntu 9.04 64 bits: kernel 2.6.28, X.org 7.4 with lastest free ati
drivers from Ubuntu repositories - not compiled from SVN - .

X logs say that DRI works, but DRI2 doesn't... All other modules OK. I haven't
tried RadeonHD, but I think that I will see the same results :-( ). even y
tried driconf, without improvements.

Thanks for advance and good work; free drivers are growing with good pace.

P.D. : switching to Old Good Lenny now :-D... Sorry for my bad English.
