Same problem here, I 've tried this allread half a year ago with no success -
neither then nor today.

I also got stuck when trying fglrx to enable TVOut on my Gigabyte GA69GM-S2H.
Is the GPU part of RS690 a total different chip compared to other X1xxx series
based cards?
