RadeonHD and other platforms

Hi all,
I'd just like to get a sense of how difficult porting RadeonHD to UNIX-like
operating systems other than linux would be, and how difficult porting
RadeonHD to architectures other x86/64 would be.
Sorry for the newbie, question - I'm not a driver developer at all. I
realize xf86 drivers tend to be fairly portable, but I was just trying to
get a better idea. It appears that solaris and freebsd can utilize radeonhd
to varrying extents.
I think in 2009 there are *0* UNIX workstations being made that use any
architecture other than x64, and one of the big reasons for that is lack of
3d hardware support. (As an aside, there aren't even that many good x64
options, imho.) Lack of demand is pretty big also, but I think there's a
vicious cycle involved when you are trying to seel workstations with
terrible or no 3d hardware acceleration. I'm not saying you all should
implement something along these lings of course, but it seems like RadeonHD
could give some of these other architectures some hope for being used as
workstations again - maybe not commercially, but at least in the hobbyist
setting.
Thanks for your time,
Brandon Barker
