you might try a newer drm with the ring padding patch, Dave's drm-next tree
(http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/airlied/drm-2.6.git;a=summary) which
will require you to compile a new kernel, or the r6xx-r7xx-support branch of
the drm tree at fdo (I've pulled in the padding patch).
