Appears like a similar bug is already on file:

Looks like upgrading the kernel and switching to in-kernel DRM module
solves the problem (see tail of latter issue) but I haven't tested yet.
I wonder if there are any advantages of using the module from
dri.freedesktop.org over the built-in one?  I used to think that was the
case, but I no longer remember why... ;-)
