Fwiw, I've also been noticing similar behavior on my own -ati system, although
the message I see in my Xorg.0.log is different.  Since it seems to have some
relation to the dpms power management, I've not been sure whether it is X or
something deeper in the platform stuff.  Any pointers would be much
appreciated, as I've had a lot of different people mention this issue to me.
