I'm not yet sure what this is the same problem, but i see flickering and
(infrequent) blanking with git version from 01/13/2009 on my

02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV515 PRO [Radeon
X1300/X1550 Series]

Seems what "xrandr --rate 60" help. Not sure yet what this removes problem
completely for me.
