Right.  The default is to enable it.  this patch disables it by default.  You
can also enable/disable it on the fly with
xrandr --output <output> --set coherent_mode <val>

Coherent has nothing to do with single link vs. dual link, rather it affects
how the clock is recovered in the monitor.  Most new monitors prefer coherent,
however, that's not always the case.
