Lockup with ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT in dual-head...

Hi all,

I'm experiencing lockups with the "ati" driver on an ATI Radeon HD 2400
XT when I try to start X in a dual-head configuration.

The configuration is completely vanilla, so:

  Section "Device"
        Identifier "Card0"
        Driver "ati"
        VendorName "Radeon"
        BoardName "Radeon HD2400XT"
        BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
  EndSection

  Section "Device"
       Identifier "Card1"
        Driver "ati"
       VendorName "Radeon"
       BoardName "Radeon HD2400XT"
       BusID "PCI:4:0:0"
  EndSection

(with two Screen declarations + Xinerama enabled).

If I remove one of the Device sections, everything seems to come up
fine. (No acceleration of course, but that'll have to do for now.)

I've attached the X log from a crashed startup. Since the machine locks
hard I can't really tell if there is any more output -- and I'm loath to
try the crashing setup too often.

Here's what lspci -v says:

Does anyone have any hints as to what I can try to get things working or
to help debug the issue?

Cheers,
