very slow 3d on Mobility FireGL V5200 with radeon driver

I have ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 on my A7J and my video-card gives max
10 FPS at urbanterritory and about ~1-2 FPS on Google Maps. glx_gears
gives FPS ~2500. It is working ok only with compiz-fusion without
lags. :) And that's the main strong point of xf86-video-ati for me.
But the worst thing is random restart of X and sometimes it goes in
unlimited loop with keyboard and mouse freeze and only system reboot
could change smth. :'(
I am not a programmer but it is a pity that 3 years ago I bought
notebook with this videocard and still couldn't use the basic
functionality on linux.
It is the log from the last X crash:

The interesting fact is that using Google Maps on Windows made ATI
Videocard to go the same unlimited loop. ]:)
So, you are not alone with slow r5xx. :(
