Your X crashed because it couldn't find font properly. Specify the font
path explicitly in the "Files" section or use "-fp" option when you
start X server, then it will work.
Find the font path and add it to the "Files" section of xorg.conf. The
path of font could be /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/
or /usr/share/X11/fonts/.
Example:
Section "Files"
RgbPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb"
FontPath "unix/:7100"
FontPath "/usr/share/X11/fonts/misc/"
FontPath "/usr/share/X11/fonts/TTF/"
FontPath "/usr/share/X11/fonts/OTF/"
FontPath "/usr/share/X11/fonts/Type1/"
FontPath "/usr/share/X11/fonts/100dpi/"
FontPath "/usr/share/X11/fonts/75dpi/"
EndSection
or
X -fp /usr/share/X11/fonts/misc
