I found that disconnecting my s-video lead fixes this.

It also fixed a couple of issues with compiz - My background image was trashed
and when using the enhanced zoom plugin the top 4/5 of the screen could be
zoomed seperatly from the bottom 1/5. This is at 1024*768 so I suppose it fits
with the s-video res listed in the log.
