That's an interesting idea but it's not the case. It even happens if the
notebook is not used and regular DPMS settings take effect. It could be related
to KDE 4.0.5 but switching to xf86-video-radeonhd resolves the issue. That's
why I think it's driver related. Please let me know how to help you tracking
down this issue.
