Summary: [M6 LY] System lockup when switching VT's
Product: xorg
Version: 7.2
Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
Keywords: regression
Severity: major
Priority: high
Component: Driver/Radeon
AssignedTo: xorg-driver-ati at lists.x.org
ReportedBy: david.douard at gmail.com
QAContact: xorg-team at lists.x.org
Using Ubuntu on a IBM Thinkpad X24, since I upgraded to Gutsy, I can't switch
back to X11 from VT any more: it completely freeze the computer (does not even
answer to ping anymore, cannot sysrq, etc.), thus, I can't suspend any more
(which is the *big* drawback for me).
I tried quite recent git builds (packages from
http://ppa.launchpad.net/tormodvolden/ubuntu/pool/main/x/xserver-xorg-video-ati/
thus corresponding to driver "version" 6.7.197+git20080108.fa3e2055 ) with no
luck.
I also tried many xorg.conf tweaks (disabled almost everything).
Note there is a bug report on Ubuntu launchpad tracker:
