You were right: nothing changed with these changes.

Nothing changed!

Without the xorg.conf  file the server does not  start with this message
on the console:

I tried to add these lines

	Modeline "1024x768_60.00"  64.11  1024 1080 1184 1344  768 769 772 795  -HSync +Vsync

nothing changes for the screen (but  my keyboard goes crazy with no more
alt key :-( )
