from a user's perspective it is.  That patch would be pretty trivial I
just haven't gotten a chance to look at it.

Your xserver is too old.  This has been fixed.

Yes, it is supported.  All r5xx and r6xx chips except the most recent
ones should work.  No Xv yet for them.
