Bug#509047: regression - ATI driver - video flicks on mouse over content

Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati
Version: 1:6.9.0-1+lenny4
Any mouse movement over some objects (buttons, application menus, hyperlinks
and so on) make the other screen objects flicker, mostly the text and lines.
Just as the old TV flicks on energy spikes. The flick is 1 pixel thick and
happens horizontally to the left side.
For example, open Iceweasel web browser. Move with mouse over content, text,
pictures, buttons, and over the browser's buttons. You even don't need to
click on anything.
Some motion objects, such as flash animations, also have this effect to some
degree.
I suspect the video driver, because
1, The same computer, Lenny, ATI card - problem
2, Ubuntu 8.10 Interpid, ATI - problem
3, Etch, ATI - NO problem.
4, Lenny, graphic card changed to TNT2 - NO problem.
So I don't see much place for hw error here, since no problems appear with
Etch. Moreover, Ubuntu is affected too, so this might relate to the thing
that is common for Lenny and Interpid, and that might be some version of X.
I'll try with Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy also and let You know..
