Only some compiz plugin effects use 'normal' buffer swaps, normally compiz uses
the GLX_MESA_copy_sub_buffer extension for efficient incremental updates, but
that can't be automatically synchronized to the refresh.

As noted by Henning, compiz doesn't 100% reliably recognize fullscreen windows
yet. The compiz 'Extra WM Actions' plugin allows manually (un)redirecting
windows, though unfortunately IME that doesn't always work as expected either.
