As discussed with ossman on IRC, the problem go away when disabling compiz:
(14:48:32) ossman: does the problem go away if you turn off compiz?
(14:49:45) fpoibaf: OK. Disabling compiz make the problem disappear
(14:50:37) ossman: great. so we need to do something differently when we're
rendering offscreen
