Okay, that's bad... :) - that worked. 
However, I would like to say that I have not found one single place where this
is documented. I have not found a single document telling me how to use
xrandr-1.2 besides xrandr --help. At least a manpage would be nice... If there
would have been one, this bug report probably wouldn't exist...
