Radeon 9200 SE: server freeze, server restart

Hello!

I replaced the graphics card in a debian (stable) Athlon system,
(old: Matrox Millennium PCI, new: ATI Radeon 9200 SE AGP)

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon 9200 SE]
(rev 01)

and the system once restarted the X server and froze twice
(each time when playing KPatience, by the way)

I can't find anything in the log files (/var/log/messages, Xorg.log) that
I would relate to this problem.

The xserver-xorg package has version 1:7.1.0-19,
the xorg.log starts with

X Window System Version 7.1.1
Release Date: 12 May 2006
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 7.1.1
Build Operating System: UNKNOWN
Current Operating System: Linux Ursula 2.6.18-5-k7 #1 SMP Wed Oct 3 00:47:27
UTC
 2007 i686
Build Date: 04 September 2007

The modules:
Section "Module"
        Load "bitmap"
        Load "dbe"
        Load "ddc"
        Load "dri"
        Load "extmod"
        Load "freetype"
        Load "glx"
        Load "int10"
# Load "v4l"
        Load "vbe"
EndSection

Are there any known problems, or can anybody provide me a hint where to look
when the system freezes next time? How can I track this down?

I use the system for standard 2D desktop and DVD playback
(which works well with xine).

With best regards
Hartmut Niemann
