Point taken, should have read up more on this. Comment #40 about the different
code paths explains it.
What's odd though is a problem with buffer underruns showing itself in "analog
looking" interference and the screen position moving by 1 or 2 pixels, instead
of just plain blanking. That would mean buffer underruns can cause TMDS
signalling problems?
