DVI output not visible on LCD with DVI, VGA output works - summary

So the executive summary seems to be: the radeon driver v6.2 does not
set TMDS_PLL_CNTL and TMDS_TRANSMITTER_CNTL when it starts without the
ext monitor attached. It also forgets to set them with _some_ ext
monitors, even though it does see the ext monitor attached.

In terms of comparing the EDID/DDC info from my work and home
monitors, I can't convince the get-edid/parse-edid utils to look at
anything but the 1st monitor (ie: laptop lcd). How can I get the
edid/ddc data?
