karthik at rishi:~$ xrandr -q
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1200, maximum 2048 x 2048
VGA-0 connected 1920x1200+0+0 (normal left inverted right) 519mm x 324mm

   720x400 70.1
LVDS connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right) 0mm x 0mm

   800x600 60.3
   640x480 59.9

If I move my VGA-0 (1280x800) below LVDS everything is fine.
BEFORE: xrandr --output VGA-0 --auto --pos 0x800 (OK)

The other way around the VGA-0 is garbled screen (LVDS is fine):
AFTER: xrandr --output VGA-0 --auto --pos 0x0 --output LVDS --pos 0x700

karthik at rishi:~$ xrandr -q

   640x480 59.9
S-video disconnected (normal left inverted right)

I tried switch off/on monitor - did not help. BTW, "--auto " seems very
important. If I issue the same command without --auto the VGA-0 is dumped to a
low resolution 640x480. Although, xrandr -q reports _high_ resolution.

VGA-0 is a Dell 2407 -wfp

many thanks.

default: xserver-xorg with ubuntu-gutsy
