[Xorg-driver-ati] Bug#389017: xserver-xorg-video-ati: Switching to vt garbled screen and freezes PPC powerbook

After an upgrade to 7.1 I can't switch to console via <ctrl> <alt> F?.
The screen went garbled and the powerbook freeze. I am using the
same xorg.conf as in 7.0 (ati 6.5.8.0).
