libpciaccess dynamic device list

I'm a fan of libpciaccess and have extended it for use in several projects.
Recently, being able to handle hot plugging devices has come up. Has anyone
asked about this past or (better) proposed a solution? Naively, it seems
the array of struct pci_device_private elements would make this difficult,
but perhaps, I'm overlooking something obvious. TIA.
