I've had a similar discussion in other projects (spice) and we decided
on XDG_DATA_HOME there. Logs realyl don't belong in .cache, that is for
volatile generated files which can be re-generated at will.

IE sometimes users do rm -rf ~/.cache to trouble shoot some issues, you
don't want that to blow away your logs.
