Actually,  I cobbled some code together in the last few months that
is making use of Xvfb -fbdir,  this was to run a Window'ed xserver
on OSX.

I wanted to avoid the double translation inherent in using vnc,  and
didn't want to have 2 Xservers running (which using Xnest / Xephyr would
have involved).
