oh, so you'd have to wrap CreateScreenResources... Yeah, not worth the
pain for an intermediate state like this.

It's purely a local optimization, of course, so it won't pend merging.

Yeah, I'll take a poke at the cursor stuff myself; I'm supposed to
understand how that works. The current 'force software cursors and copy
them' hack is not pretty though.

I'll take it for now and we can fix it later.
