"Blocker" bugs with patches or workarounds

The following 7 bug reports are in either the 1.11 or 1.12 tracker and have patches attached or sent to the list which either fix the underlying issue or work around a crash due to the issue.  I'd like to get these reviewed and merged.  If you're in the CC of this email, then you have "dropped the ball" on at least one of these bug reports in that you either need to send the patch for review or respond to reviewers critiques and send a followup patch.  Please do so soon, so this can be merged into master before beta1, and I can cherry pick them into 1.11.3.
