To nitpick on the nitpicking (at the risk of bikeshedding):

The other option descriptions start with lower case (-> asks). I would
also avoid "that" -> "it" or:
+asks the driver not to clear the background on startup (if supported by driver)

Although "asks" (as opposed to "tells") already implies that the
driver might not honor it.
