It looks like you're potentially de-referencing a NULL dev pointer at:

+            else if (dev->valuator->axes[xv->first_valuator + j].mode == Absolute)

if this returns NULL:
dixLookupDevice(&dev, ev->deviceid, serverClient, DixUseAccess);
