[PATCH 0/9] mixed valuator mode cleanup patches

A bunch of patches on top of Chase' switch to support mixed axes. Since we
have per-axis mode now, this set removes the "mode" field from the
ValuatorClassRec. The patches before 7/9 are preparation work for that.

Since the mode field was also (mis)used for proximity infomation, that bit
moved into the ProximityClassRec (6/9).

This is the last set of patches that modify the input API 12.
