The window thing is purely a hack for GL, let's not get sidetracked into
thinking that it's more than that. The idea here is to expose what the
hardware does and let client land sort it out. We've already got two
important use cases which can use the proposed functionality as-is:
1) Compositing-manager based rotation
2) working around scanout/rendering limits
In particular, one point of this exercise is to avoid the whole issue of
shatter and its multiple backing-pixmap adventure.
We can add support for overlays (and misc) in a separate proposal once
we figure out if this stuff does what we want.
