[PATCH 0/2] startup speed up by removing PCI routines

Hi. I'm sending again these two patches for review. I didn't change anything
on both.

Some discussions on the second happenend related with a better way to match
video card lists. IMHO these are orthogonal with the current issue we are
seeing here.

If no one objects, I'd judge this as material for 1.9 release (even not
being a bug fix). Please review.
