This is standard for homogenous coordinates. You know, this concept is
also used in 3D computer graphics, and there you naturally already have
x, y, and z coordinates. So the homogenous component would have to be
named differently :-]

Indeed. As the mathematics in vector form is close to trivial, I wanted
to add the written form in a way that is understandable to people not
fluent in vector mathematics :)

Ah, overlooked that. Also you wrote 'beamer', which is a false friend.
It's a slang term used for BMW cars, not for projectors ;-)
However, as Germans use this term often, most native speakers have
adapted in the meantime and understand it :-)
