Only xtrans is affected due to it strangeness - the rest of .pc comes
From stuff that easily can be configured for cross-compilation and
installed to /usr/$arch/lib/pkgconfig (proto don't need to, but can be).

Uh, that's the problem, libdir is searched first. Probably it's better
to have it installed both to datadir and libdir, as suggested by Alan.
