I had left these bits in for a couple reasons.  I could have sworn that
there was still one or two drivers that called into them.  They also
provide some documentation in case some hapless fool wanted to port the
old /dev/mem methods to libpciaccess.  I don't see any drive references
to these functions now, and if someone were going to do such a back-port
they would have started by now.
