I've found

now, and the bugs that it references. The Fedora patch
xserver-1.5.3-idletime-fix.patch solved my problem.
However, this fix is only on the 1.6 branch and trunk. Why not on the 1.5
branch? IMHO, it's quite a major bug if the server consumes 100% of the
CPU whenever running with GNOME 2.25.X.
